Latam FX Options Trader
Our client, a leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Director-level LATAM FX Options Trader to join its Global Markets business. This is a senior front-office opportunity for an individual with a strong track record managing risk, driving profitability, and supporting institutional client activity across Latin American FX derivatives markets.
The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing and growing a LATAM FX options trading portfolio, working closely with Sales, Structuring, and global trading teams. The role will involve pricing and risk-managing complex derivative transactions while providing market-leading liquidity and solutions to a diverse institutional client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage risk and market-making activities across LATAM FX options products.
- Price and execute vanilla and exotic FX option transactions for institutional clients.
- Generate and implement trading strategies based on macroeconomic, volatility, and flow-driven opportunities.
- Partner with Sales teams to provide derivatives solutions to hedge funds, asset managers, corporates, and financial institutions.
- Monitor and manage option Greeks, volatility exposures, and cross-asset risk factors.
- Identify opportunities to optimise trading performance, liquidity provision, and capital efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with global trading desks to leverage cross-regional opportunities and manage risk effectively.
- Contribute to the development of pricing models, trading tools, and market analytics.
- Maintain strong governance standards and operate within established risk frameworks.
Requirements
- Extensive experience trading LATAM FX Options within a major investment bank or institutional trading environment.
- Strong knowledge of key LATAM currency markets including BRL, MXN, CLP, COP, PEN, and related derivatives.
- Proven track record of risk management and P&L generation.
- Deep understanding of volatility markets, options pricing, and hedging methodologies.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skillset.
- Ability to work effectively with Sales, Structuring, and clients in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience operating at a senior level within a trading business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing exotic or structured FX option risk.
- Knowledge of electronic market-making and systematic trading strategies.
- Programming skills in Python, VBA, or similar languages would be advantageous.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is beneficial but not essential.
