Position Summary
A premier financial institution is looking to appoint a senior leader to establish and oversee its enterprise-wide Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics function. This high-profile position will be instrumental in evolving AI efforts from fragmented or early-stage initiatives into a mature, scalable capability embedded across the organization.
This opportunity represents a ground-up build with strong backing from executive leadership and a long-term investment mindset. The individual will be responsible for defining the strategic direction of AI, implementing governance and operating frameworks, and ensuring initiatives generate tangible business value across front-office, risk, and corporate functions within a regulated environment.
Initially focused on the U.S. platform, the remit is expected to broaden globally as the function matures.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a comprehensive enterprise AI and analytics strategy aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk considerations
- Establish and operationalize a framework that transitions AI efforts from pilot stages into scalable, production-ready solutions
- Champion the adoption and commercialization of AI across business units, ensuring measurable outcomes and clear return on investment
- Collaborate with stakeholders across technology, data, risk, compliance, and business teams to embed AI into decision-making processes and workflows
- Build and lead a high-performing AI organization, including talent acquisition, capability development, and governance structures
- Define and enforce best practices for responsible AI, including model governance, oversight, and risk management
- Oversee prioritization of initiatives and allocation of investment, balancing innovation with operational discipline and regulatory expectations
- Communicate progress, performance, risks, and trade-offs to executive stakeholders through clear and effective reporting
- Deliver early, high-impact outcomes to establish credibility and drive organizational momentum
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on AI strategy and its broader business implications
Candidate Profile
- Extensive leadership experience in driving AI, advanced analytics, or large-scale digital transformation programs within financial services or other regulated sectors
- Demonstrated success in taking AI use cases from initial concept through to full-scale deployment
- Strong familiarity with regulatory environments, including governance, compliance, and model risk management
- Solid technical understanding of AI, machine learning, and modern data/analytics ecosystems (hands-on coding not required)
- Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across both business and technology organizations
- Experience building and scaling teams, functions, and operating models
- Strong executive presence, with excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence
