Associate - Opportunistic Credit

Overview:
A leading credit-focused investment firm is hiring its fourth Associate of the year to join a lean, high-performing team focused on opportunistic credit. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong underwriting fundamentals, modeling fluency, and a genuine passion for investing. The team operates across sectors and strategies, including distressed, special situations, and performing credit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct deep credit underwriting and financial analysis across multiple sectors.
• Build and manipulate full three-statement financial models with fluency in Excel.
• Pitch investment ideas clearly and confidently.
• Collaborate closely with senior team members in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Monitor portfolio positions and contribute to ongoing diligence and risk assessment.

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience in credit underwriting, investment banking, or a regional/specialized bank (ABL experience a plus).
• Strong corporate finance background with proven modeling skills - must be able to hit the ground running.
• Excel proficiency is essential; candidates should be comfortable with pivot tables, scenario analysis, and advanced functions.
• Demonstrated personal interest in investing - candidates without personal investments will not be considered.
• No specific sector experience required, but intellectual flexibility and curiosity are key.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a small, high-performing team.
