Workers Compensation Underwriter
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience underwriting new and renewal business, with a strong understanding of Workers' Compensation markets and established retail agency relationships. This role will focus on evaluating risk, pricing policies, and managing agency relationships to drive profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and price new and renewal Workers' Compensation submissions in accordance with underwriting guidelines and carrier appetite.
- Analyze risk characteristics, loss history, and exposure data to determine eligibility and pricing.
- Maintain and grow relationships with retail agents and brokers to generate quality submissions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and carrier partners to ensure timely and accurate policy issuance.
- Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to profitability and growth strategies.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Workers' Compensation underwriting experience.
- Proven track record of managing retail agency relationships.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with underwriting platforms and rating tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM) a plus.
