About the Role:
My client, a leading global reinsurance firm, is seeking a Vice President - Casualty Facultative Underwriter to join their Chicago-based team. This is a senior-level opportunity for a seasoned underwriter with deep expertise in Auto Liability and General Liability to play a key role in driving facultative growth and maintaining strong client relationships across the U.S. market.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite and manage a portfolio of facultative casualty risks, with a primary focus on Auto Liability and General Liability.
Analyze submissions, assess exposures, and develop tailored reinsurance solutions that align with the company's underwriting strategy.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, serving as a trusted advisor and key point of contact.
Collaborate with internal teams including actuarial, claims, and legal to evaluate risks and structure deals.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
Represent the company at client meetings, industry conferences, and underwriting presentations.
Provide mentorship and leadership support to junior underwriters as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 years of casualty underwriting experience, with a strong focus on facultative reinsurance.
Expertise in Auto Liability and General Liability required.
Strong analytical and technical underwriting skills, with a deep understanding of risk assessment and pricing methodologies.
Proven ability to build and manage client relationships, with a focus on delivering tailored reinsurance solutions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Bachelor's degree in a related field; industry designations such as CPCU, ARe, or equivalent are a plus.
Must be based in or willing to relocate to Chicago.
