Senior Risk Review Auditor - Commercial (Remote, Michigan-Based)
Overview:
This role focuses on reviewing loan assets pledged as collateral, with an emphasis on Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans. The auditor ensures compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards, supporting risk management across the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct audits of pledged loan assets (e.g., CRE, multifamily, home equity, agricultural) to assess eligibility, quality, and compliance.
- Focus on high-risk members and those with significant CRE exposure.
- Analyze financial data and underwriting factors to evaluate collateral quality.
- Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to management.
- Support development of CRE collateral standards and train other auditors.
- Perform onsite reviews of third-party custodians for document safety and control.
- Communicate with member institutions to coordinate audits and share results.
- Assist with complex or one-off loan reviews and special assignments.
Requirements:
- Must be located in Michigan area as there will be periodic on-site audits but is fully remote outside of that.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years in financial services, preferably in lending, analysis, or auditing.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Access and Acrobat a plus.
- Willingness to travel overnight ~50% of the time.
- Must meet background and security requirements.
