Quantitative Risk Analyst

Selby Jennings is partnered with a leading global commodity trading firm that is looking to bring a Quantitative Risk Analyst onto their front office team. In this high-impact role, you'll design and implement cutting-edge risk models that help the team stay ahead of market shifts.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement quantitative models to assess and manage risk across trading activities.
  • Take full ownership of model performance, ensuring accurate position tracking with a strong grasp of contract timing and seasonal market behavior.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by automating workflows and improving data validation processes.
  • Support bespoke and structured deals with tailored risk assessments and modeling.
  • Monitor and report on risk concentrations and policy breaches to senior leadership.
  • Consolidate and analyze data from multiple systems, applying rigorous data science standards.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a quantitative or analytical role within commodity trading.
  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science); advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language-Python is ideal, but others like R, C++, or VBA are also valuable.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; able to explain technical work clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of options, derivatives, etc.
