The Opportunity
I am partnered with a well‑capitalized, entrepreneurial specialty MGA platform seeking senior, niche‑focused underwriters to build and own new underwriting verticals.
This is not a traditional underwriting seat. It is an opportunity for experienced specialists to launch and scale a focused program, with long‑term upside driven by equity ownership.
Successful candidates will partner directly with platform leadership to build a durable, scalable underwriting business over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Launch and lead a specialty underwriting vertical within a defined niche
- Own underwriting strategy, appetite, pricing discipline, and portfolio performance
- Build and grow a book with a credible path, scaling over time
- Leverage and expand retail broker distribution relationships
- Partner with carriers on capacity structure, reporting, and governance
- Deliver a high‑touch, service‑oriented experience to brokers and insureds
- Operate with an ownership mindset, balancing growth with underwriting discipline
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of underwriting experience within a specific specialty niche (not broad P&C)
- Demonstrated book ownership or leadership within a defined vertical
- Strong, portable retail broker relationships
- Experience working within MGA, program, or delegated authority environments preferred
- Track record of stable tenure and long‑term book stewardship
- Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in building and owning a business
- Motivated by long‑term equity upside, not short‑term compensation alone
