Property Damage Adjuster
We're looking for a detail‑oriented and proactive Property Damage Adjuster to manage a caseload of auto property damage claims from start to finish. This role involves conducting thorough investigations, evaluating coverage and liability, negotiating settlements, and ensuring every claim is handled in full compliance with Regulation 64.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead claim investigations as soon as new losses are assigned, gathering necessary details and documentation.
- Obtain statements-written or recorded-from all involved parties to build a clear picture of each incident.
- Assess coverage and determine liability, applying Regulation 64, Vehicle and Traffic Laws, and comparative negligence principles appropriately.
- Evaluate damages, review repair estimates, and complete total‑loss valuations to ensure fair and accurate outcomes.
- Manage reserves and maintain accurate financial tracking for every claim.
- Handle subrogation matters related to property damage.
- Negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants, attorneys, or representatives while maintaining professionalism and fairness.
- Provide clear, consistent communication to maintain strong customer satisfaction and keep all parties informed throughout the process.
- Document all claim activity thoroughly in the claims system and maintain an up‑to‑date diary on each file.
- Follow company policies and supervisory guidance to ensure quality and compliance.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of Regulation 64, Vehicle and Traffic Laws (VTL), and comparative negligence.
- At least 1 year of experience investigating and negotiating auto property damage claims involving comparative negligence.
- Skilled in negotiation and confident in handling discussions with claimants, insureds, and legal representatives.
- Strong computer skills and ability to efficiently use claims systems.
- Ability to manage multiple files, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to high‑quality customer service and professional communication.
