Private Credit Underwriter - AVP/VP
Selby Jennings is partnered with a highly reputable Investment Management firm based in Chicago, IL. The team is looking to bring on an AVP/VP to their Private Credit Underwriting Team. The firm provides a full suite of capital solutions and partners closely with private equity sponsors and portfolio companies. Its platform offers clients access to differentiated strategies and high-quality investment opportunities across private credit, equity, and other alternative asset classes.
The role involves full lifecycle responsibility for evaluating, underwriting, and managing credit investments, with a focus on sponsor-backed transactions. Key responsibilities include:
Leading financial analysis and underwriting efforts
Overseeing due diligence and managing deal execution
Preparing investment materials and supporting legal negotiations
Managing a portfolio of credit investments with a proactive approach
Collaborating with internal teams and supporting junior team members
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:
A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BBA) is a must
5+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, lending, or financial structuring
Prior experience in cash flow lending and working on sponsor-backed deals is essential
A strong preference for candidates with experience underwriting transactions in software and technology services
Highly developed analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
