Overview
The firm is seeking an experienced Managing Director to join its M&A practice as a senior leader within a generalist, multi-vertical platform. This individual will be responsible for originating new business, leading client relationships, driving transaction execution, and guiding the strategic direction of the practice across healthcare, B2B services, industrials, consumer, and food and beverage. The ideal candidate brings deep sector knowledge, a consistent track record of closing transactions, strong commercial instincts, and the leadership presence required to mentor teams and represent the firm at the highest levels.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Origination
* Develop new client relationships and expand existing ones across the firm's core verticals
* Identify market opportunities, originate new mandates, and drive revenue growth for the practice
* Lead pitch processes and execute a disciplined, proactive business development strategy
* Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking engagements
* Collaborate with other senior leaders to shape product offerings, market positioning, and long term strategic initiatives
Client Leadership
* Serve as the primary advisor to CEOs, founders, boards, and investors
* Clearly articulate strategic alternatives, valuation considerations, and market dynamics
* Provide senior oversight throughout the transaction lifecycle
* Build long term, trusted relationships that result in repeat and referral business
* Manage complex and sensitive client situations with maturity and sound judgment
Transaction Execution
* Lead overall process strategy and high level execution for buy side and sell side M&A engagements
* Provide guidance to deal teams on diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and legal documentation
* Oversee preparation of key materials while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with client goals
* Negotiate critical deal terms with buyers, investors, lenders, and legal counsel
* Ensure transactions are executed efficiently, with high quality standards and strong team coordination
Leadership and Team Development
* Provide mentorship, coaching, and career guidance to Vice Presidents, Associates, and Analysts
* Foster a collaborative, high performance culture rooted in accountability and excellence
* Partner with firm leadership on hiring, training, resource planning, and performance management
* Reinforce best practices across client management, analytics, communication, and process rigor
Qualifications
* Ten to fifteen years of investment banking experience with a focus on M&A
* Established track record of originating and closing transactions across one or more of the firm's core verticals
* Deep client relationships and a proven ability to build a sustainable pipeline
* Strong strategic judgment and commercial instincts
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior executives and boards
* Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast paced, high pressure environment
* Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred but not required
