Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our clients Middle Market E&S team with a focus on construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial lines underwriting, particularly in the construction sector, and will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing risks to ensure profitability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Evaluation: Assess and underwrite complex construction risks within the middle market E&S space, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and profitability targets.
- Portfolio Management: Manage a sizable and complex book of business, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Broker Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers to drive new business opportunities and ensure high service standards.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to junior underwriters and frontline underwriting teams.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Claims Review: Analyze claims and loss information to identify and address exposures and frequency issues.
- Coverage Determination: Determine final coverages and pricing for commercial risks, ensuring competitive and profitable offerings.
- Production Targets: Meet and exceed production, profitability, and service standards established by the company.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; CPCU or other professional designations preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, with a strong focus on E&S and construction risks.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of E&S Lines, construction industry risks, and wholesale brokerage distribution.
