They are seeking to hire a Consumer Retail Analyst (Hardlines/Broadlines) to join their Long/Short equity team. Job Description:
As a Consumer Retail Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities across the Hardlines and Broadlines retail space. You will work closely with the Consumer sector lead, leveraging your buy-side experience and research expertise to generate actionable investment ideas. This role requires a strong grasp of retail industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and macroeconomic drivers impacting the sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep-dive research and financial analysis on Hardlines and Broadlines retail companies.
- Monitor industry trends, consumer behavior shifts, and macroeconomic indicators.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment theses.
- Present investment ideas and insights to the investment committee.
- Collaborate with other analysts and portfolio managers to align on sector strategy.
- Leverage alternative data and technology tools to enhance research depth and accuracy.
- Stay current on earnings, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of total experience in equity research, with at least 2 years on the buy-side.
- Strong understanding of the Consumer Retail sector, particularly Hardlines/Broadlines.
- Proven ability to generate differentiated investment ideas.
- Excellent modeling, analytical, and communication skills.
- Interest in applying alternative data and tech-driven insights to investment research.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
