Fund Operations Director
The Fund Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the end‑to‑end operational framework of a portfolio of regulated and unregulated Real Estate investment funds domiciled in Luxembourg. The role provides strategic and hands‑on leadership across fund operations, governance, and service provider oversight, while managing and developing a high‑performing operations team.
Acting as a key senior stakeholder, the position ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and scalable processes aligned with the growth and complexity of Real Estate investment strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall responsibility for daily fund operations across closed‑end and open‑ended Real Estate structures, including SPVs and holding companies
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of NAVs, capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting
- Oversee pricing, valuation processes, and coordination with external valuers for Real Estate assets
- Maintain strong operational controls across accounting, cash management, and reconciliations
- Ensure full compliance with Luxembourg regulatory frameworks (e.g., AIFMD, CSSF requirements)
- Act as a senior point of contact for auditors, regulators, depositaries, and fund administrators
- Oversee fund documentation, operational procedures, and internal control frameworks
- Support board governance processes, including preparation of board materials and attendance as require
- Manage and evaluate third‑party service providers including fund administrators, depositaries, legal counsel, tax advisors, and auditors
- Lead service provider onboarding, mandate reviews, and performance assessments
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost efficiencies across outsourced functions
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fund operations professionals based in Luxembourg
- Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support career development
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
- Act as a role model for strong risk awareness and control discipline
- Partner with senior stakeholders across investment, finance, tax, legal, and compliance teams
- Lead operational aspects of new fund launches, restructurings, and cross‑border expansions
- Drive automation, system enhancements, and process standardization initiatives
- Contribute to broader operational strategy and transformation programs
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in fund operations within Real Estate asset management
- Strong knowledge of Luxembourg fund structures and regulatory environment
- Proven track record of managing teams and senior stakeholders
- Experience overseeing complex fund structures with multiple vehicles and jurisdictions
- Strong understanding of fund accounting, valuation, and financial reporting processes
- Prior experience working with external service providers in an outsourced operating model
- Leadership and people management capabilities
- Strong operational and risk mindset
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands‑on levels
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
- Fluent in English; additional languages considered an advantage
