Excess Casualty Underwriter
Overview:
My client is a top-tier property and casualty insurance carrier with a strong presence in the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market. They are seeking a highly experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter with a minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience in the E&S Excess Casualty space. This role is ideal for a technically strong, market-facing underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and price complex excess casualty risks in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite.
- Analyze submissions, assess exposures, and determine appropriate coverage terms and pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and other distribution partners.
- Collaborate with internal teams including actuarial, claims, and legal to ensure sound underwriting decisions.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform underwriting strategy.
- Contribute to product development and portfolio management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal underwriting standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience underwriting E&S Excess Casualty risks.
- Deep understanding of the E&S market, risk selection, and pricing strategies.
- Strong broker relationships and a reputation for responsiveness and technical expertise.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Bachelor's degree required; industry designations (e.g., CPCU, RPLU, ARM) are a plus.
