Credit Control Manager
Join a dynamic shipping business in this newly formed role to oversee credit exposure across global chartering, broking, financing, and transactional operations. This role is pivotal in shaping and enforcing the group's credit risk framework. As Credit Control Manager, you'll lead the development and execution of credit risk strategies, ensuring robust controls across counterparties and transactions. You'll collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to manage receivables, defaults, and recoveries, while maintaining oversight of interest policies and exposure tracking.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control Operations
- Manage credit control processes across chartering, broking, financing, and other transactional areas.
- Monitor and enforce credit limits and payment terms in line with internal policies.
- Work closely with Finance on receivables and receipts, and with Legal on claims and recoveries.
- Identify and escalate overdue accounts and potential defaults.
- Maintain a centralized system for tracking credit exposures and recovery efforts.
- Conduct regular reviews of counterparty creditworthiness using internal and external data.
- Recommend adjustments to credit terms based on emerging risks.
Claims & Dispute Resolution
- Collaborate with Legal and Insurance teams to support the resolution and prosecution of claims.
- Lead efforts to resolve disputes with a balanced approach, ensuring fair and timely outcomes.
Reporting
- Prepare and publish reports on defaults and recovery actions.
- Deliver weekly updates to senior leadership (CEO, CFO, COO) on credit exposures, overdue accounts, and resolution status.

- Strong understanding of shipping contracts, chartering terms, and related finance structures.
- Familiarity with legal and insurance processes related to claims and recoveries.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in credit control systems and financial reporting tools.
