Data Center Technician

A High Frequency Trading firm is looking to add a Data Center Engineer to their infrastructure team in Kings Mountain, NC. The Infrastructure team is responsible for managing data centers, networks, and supporting systems that enable both global low-latency environments and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge server, network, and storage technologies, including high-density cabinets and liquid cooling systems. You'll also have the chance to take full ownership of projects from initiation to completion.
Responsibilities:

Maintain data center infrastructure (power, cooling, hardware, cabling, tools/supplies) to ensure maximum service availability.
Gather requirements and plan for new hardware installations (e.g., physical location, power/cooling needs, cabling).
Install and configure infrastructure components (cabinets, power strips, structured cabling).
Rack and cable hardware (servers, network equipment, storage devices).
Troubleshoot and perform break-fix on hardware.
Configure network devices and Linux servers using CLI tools and Zero-Touch Provisioning.
Develop and maintain technical documentation.
Coordinate with colocation providers and hardware vendors for support and requests.
Manage onsite contractors (task assignment, work validation).
Handle shipping and receiving of equipment.
Maintain inventory of serialized assets and consumables.
Conduct capacity planning (space, cooling, power, cabling).
Travel occasionally to other data centers or office locations.
Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three years of experience in data center operations.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Ability to meet physical job requirements (e.g., working on ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs).
Strong knowledge of cabling standards and media types; ability to manage cables to a high standard.
Deep understanding of data center infrastructure (electrical, cooling, liquid cooling, mechanicals, safety).
Experience with hardware repair (servers, network/storage devices, infrastructure).
Familiarity with basic network designs and topologies.
Experience configuring Cisco and Arista devices via CLI.
Proficiency with Linux command line for troubleshooting and scripting.
Programming experience (e.g., Python) is a plus.
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global team environment.

Reliable availability, including evenings and weekends as required.


This role will sit on-site. The salary for this role is $100,000 - $140,000 base salary with a discretionary bonus.
