A fast‑growing market data start‑up is seeking their first Cloud Engineer to build and scale the backbone of their cloud infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the platform from the ground up, working closely with engineering and product teams to deliver high‑performance, reliable systems for real‑time market data.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of cloud platforms on AWS
- Own the full life cycle of cloud engineering: architecture, implementation, monitoring, optimization, and scaling
- Establish best practices for cloud security, automation, and cost management
- Build tooling and frameworks to support data capture, processing, and distribution pipelines
- Collaborate with developers to integrate cloud infrastructure with applications and analytics systems
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all cloud engineering initiatives
- Document processes and mentor future hires as the team grows
What You'll need:
- Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, etc.) and cloud architecture
- Proven experience in end‑to‑end development of cloud platforms
- Strong programming skills, ideally in Python, with ability to contribute to application code as well as infrastructure tooling
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CDK) and CI/CD pipelines
- Solid understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to thrive in a start‑up environment where you'll wear multiple hats

This is a hybrid role based in Oakland, CA requiring 3 days a week onsite.
