Trade Systems Support Engineer
Overview
An elite high frequency trading firm is looking for a Trade Systems Support Engineer to join their trading technology operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer to gain hands-on experience supporting live trading systems in a fast-paced production environment.
In this role, you will work alongside senior support engineers, traders, and infrastructure teams to help maintain the stability and performance of trading platforms during market hours. You'll build practical experience across Linux systems, Python scripting, and production troubleshooting while supporting real-time trading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assist with day-to-day support of live trading systems during market hours
-Monitor system health, alerts, and dashboards to identify potential issues
-Respond to and help troubleshoot production incidents under the guidance of senior engineers
-Perform basic troubleshooting on Linux-based systems
-Write and maintain simple Python scripts to support monitoring, automation, and operational tasks
-Help diagnose basic network issues, such as connectivity or service availability problems
-Communicate clearly with traders and internal teams during incidents and support requests
-Document incidents, resolutions, and common troubleshooting steps
Required Qualifications:
-1-3 years of experience in production support, application support, systems support, or a similar role
-Working knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals (processes, logs, basic commands)
-Some experience with Python scripting (academic, professional, or personal projects)
-Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, connectivity troubleshooting)
-Familiarity with monitoring or alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, etc.)
-Experience with Bash scripting or basic automation
-Ability to remain calm and organized in time-sensitive situations
-Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions and learn
-Availability to work a weekend-inclusive schedule
