AVP Actuary - Reserving
A specialty‑focused organization in the P&C sector is seeking an experienced actuarial leader to join its Corporate Actuarial group. This role sits within a Reserving & Loss Analytics team that provides independent reserve assessments, supports financial reporting, and delivers analytical insights that influence business decisions across the enterprise.
You'll lead reserving analyses, oversee loss analytics initiatives, and contribute to integration activities related to organizational changes or acquisitions. The position is hands‑on and highly visible, requiring someone who can balance technical execution with strategic thinking, cross‑functional collaboration, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead reserving and loss analytics projects; deliver clear, proactive insights to senior stakeholders.
- Enhance models, methodologies, and reserving frameworks; ensure data quality and consistency.
- Partner closely with underwriting, pricing, claims, and finance to align on business performance trends.
- Support quarterly financial reporting and provide input into forecasting and planning.
- Mentor team members and contribute to an evolving, high‑performance actuarial function.
Required Experience
- Expert Excel and SQL; familiarity with modern analytics tools (Power BI, Snowflake, Python) preferred.
- Strong background across commercial/specialty P&C lines.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex workloads, and communicate with executives.
- Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society preferred (ACAS considered).
- 10+ years in P&C actuarial roles, including 5+ years in reserving or loss analytics.
