Industry & Company Context

A leading global investment bank with a strong UK Corporate & Investment Banking platform and a well established Corporate Rates franchise in London. The team partners closely with UK domiciled corporates across a broad range of sectors, providing interest rate risk management and balance‑sheet solutions. The role sits within the Corporate Rates / Solutions desk, working alongside Corporate Banking, DCM, FX and Trading to deliver integrated derivatives solutions to UK corporate clients.

Role Impact & Ownership

The Associate / VP will play a front office, client facing role advising UK corporates on interest rate hedging and funding strategies. Responsibilities include structuring, pricing and executing interest rate derivatives, managing day to day client relationships, and driving transaction flow. At VP level, the role includes greater origination responsibility, ownership of key client relationships and mentoring junior team members.

Core Domain Expertise

  • UK corporate interest rate risk management
  • Vanilla and structured rates products
  • Funding and balance sheet optimisation
  • Understanding of regulatory, accounting and documentation considerations for UK corporates

Technical Skills (Clustered)

  • Rates Products: IRS, OIS, caps, floors, swaptions, callable structures
  • Analytics & Pricing: Yield curves, discounting, sensitivities (DV01/PV01)
  • Systems: Bloomberg, internal pricing and risk systems
  • Execution: Trade booking, confirmations and ISDA documentation exposure

Target Backgrounds & Adjacent Pathways

  • Corporate Rates / Solutions Sales desks
  • Corporate Banking derivatives or treasury solutions teams
  • DCM or Structured Finance roles with strong rates exposure
  • Associate to VP level candidates from tier one or strong tier two institutions

Soft Skills & Cross‑Functional Traits

  • Strong client facing and commercial mindset
  • Ability to communicate clearly with treasurers, CFOs and senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable working across Sales, Trading, Legal and Risk
  • Organised, detail oriented and able to manage multiple live transactions

Flexible Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline
  • Associate: ~3-5 year's experience | VP: ~6-10 year's experience
  • Professional qualifications beneficial but not essential
