The Assistant Controller will serve as a key member of the Finance and Operations team, working directly with senior leadership and partnering across accounting, operations, compliance, and investor reporting functions.This individual will play an integral role in fund accounting, valuation support, financial reporting, audit coordination, tax compliance, and investment operations. The position offers broad exposure across the organization and is ideal for someone seeking to expand their responsibilities within a collaborative, fast-paced investment management environment.Role Responsibilities
- Support quarterly fund close processes, including review of NAV calculations and coordination with third-party fund administrators.
- Assist with fund accounting activities, including capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, OID amortization, and other complex allocations.
- Perform and document quarterly valuations of Level III investments.
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Partner with third-party tax providers on fund, management company, and GP entity tax compliance, including K-1 preparation and distribution.
- Review investor capital statements and assist with investor reporting deliverables.
- Track and analyze key fund and investment performance metrics, including IRR, DPI, MOIC, and related measurements.
- Assist with investment closings, flow of funds schedules, interest calculations, and funding processes.
- Support leverage facility activity, including draw requests, repayments, interest accruals, covenant compliance, and lender reporting.
- Oversee fund expense allocation methodologies and payment processes.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for both fund and management company entities.
- Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements, including SEC and other regulatory filings.
- Liaise with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, lenders, and other external service providers.
- Help enhance operational processes, controls, and documentation across accounting, reporting, and investment operations functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Approximately 4-6 years of fund accounting experience within private equity, private credit, real assets, or alternative asset management environments.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with capital calls, distributions, partnership accounting, investor reporting, and fund operations.
- Exposure to private investment valuation methodologies and Level III assets is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, and fund accounting processes.
- Experience working with third-party fund administrators and external service providers.
- Highly analytical with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated professional capable of operating independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization.
