Valuation Actuary
Our client, a growing reinsurer, is seeking a Valuation Actuary to join their Bermuda-based team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on with models, values collaboration, and wants to play a key role in financial reporting and regulatory work. The role reports to the Senior Actuary and will be involved in everything from quarterly valuations and assumption setting to model development and process improvements. It's a visible role with a lot of impact across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation of actuarial valuations, including best estimate liability (BEL) calculations and reserve rollforwards
Develop and maintain financial reporting models to support internal and regulatory reporting
Assist with technical provisions and capital reporting in accordance with Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) guidelines
Contribute to experience studies and assumption-setting processes
Enhance actuarial model governance and identify opportunities for process improvements
Collaborate with pricing and risk management teams to ensure alignment in methodologies
Qualifications:
FSA or equivalent designation
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field
At least 5 years of relevant actuarial experience
Familiarity with valuation frameworks such as US GAAP, US Stat, Bermuda EBS, Solvency II, or Canadian standards
Proficiency in Moody's Axis or similar actuarial modeling software
Experience with R, Python, or other data tools is an asset
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
