Job Overview
A leading quantitative trading firm is seeking a Trade Surveillance Analyst to join its EMEA Compliance team. Based on the trading floor, this role focuses on market abuse surveillance and the ongoing development and enhancement of the firm's surveillance framework.
The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Technology, and Compliance teams to ensure surveillance systems are robust, risk‑focused, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of desk structures and trading strategies to support risk‑based and commercially aware surveillance
- Review, triage, and investigate trade surveillance alerts relating to potential market abuse
- Conduct investigations into suspicious trading behaviour and contribute to STOR reporting where required
- Enhance and recalibrate surveillance rules to improve effectiveness and reduce false positives
- Ensure alignment of surveillance frameworks with MAR, MiFID II, and relevant regulatory guidance
- Partner with Technology and Trading teams to prioritise and deliver system enhancements
- Participate in UAT, data quality reviews, and system logic validation
- Support ongoing maintenance of the surveillance framework, including documentation and issue resolution
- Contribute to cross‑jurisdictional surveillance coverage where applicable
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Approximately 3+ years' experience in trade surveillance with a strong focus on market abuse
- Strong working knowledge of MAR and MiFID II
- Proven experience reviewing alerts and conducting market abuse investigations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess trading behaviour in context
Desirable
- Experience investigating typologies such as spoofing, layering, momentum ignition, or insider dealing
- Experience developing, calibrating, or optimising surveillance rules
- Familiarity with listed products, including derivatives
- Experience working closely with trading desks
- Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel or SQL

- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced trading environment
