Senior Cost Accountant
My client, a semiconductor manufacturer, is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to support cost accounting initiatives, financial reporting, month-end close, and audit readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in month-end closing, including analyzing purchase price and order variances.
- Collaborate with operations to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial data.
- Prepare and input journal entries and reconcile inventory to the general ledger.
- Analyze inventory accounting and COGS to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of product cost data, including standard costs, BOMs, and routings.
- Review and update standard costs; work with plant operations and engineering to maintain routings.
- Coordinate with purchasing to obtain new material and packaging costs and input them into SAP.
- Estimate standard costs for new products and support cost roll-ups.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and physical inventory reviews.
- Partner with the materials review board to maintain reserves for obsolete or excess inventory.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and manage open items to resolution.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual standard cost development.
- Review BOMs, routing, and material costs to support accurate cost modeling.
- Prepare labor and overhead rates and allocate site-level spending to business units.
- Assist in developing local site spending budgets and ensure proper cost allocation.
- Document accounting procedures and support special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of US GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards
- Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
- Must pass a post-offer drug screening; ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safety-sensitive environment
