A leading global insurance organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced catastrophe modeling professional to join its cat modeling team. This role supports the commercial property insurance portfolio by delivering timely and accurate catastrophe risk assessments that inform underwriting decisions and portfolio strategy.
About the Role
As a Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst, you will work alongside a team of technical experts to evaluate natural catastrophe exposures, enhance modeling capabilities, and contribute to the development of automation tools and analytics. This is a hybrid position, offering a mix of in-office and remote work, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide catastrophe risk assessments to underwriters for commercial property submissions.
- Perform data quality checks and cleansing on exposure data received from brokers and clients.
- Augment and enrich datasets to improve the accuracy of risk evaluations.
- Utilize catastrophe modeling platforms and analytical tools to assess risk, identify key drivers, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Develop and present insights that enhance portfolio understanding and support strategic decision-making.
- Improve automation processes and build tools to streamline data integration and reporting.
- Contribute to the evaluation of new market opportunities, technologies, and modeling tools.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal tools using programming languages.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in property & casualty insurance, with a focus on catastrophe modeling or exposure management.
- Strong programming skills, with fluency in SQL required.
- Experience with Python, C#, or similar languages for automating workflows and data pipelines.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, finance, economics, business, or computer science.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset.
