About the Firm

This is a technology-driven hedge fund unlike any other - one that combines machine learning, cryptographic innovation, and open collaboration to reimagine how markets are traded. By leveraging a global network of data scientists and a fully encrypted modeling pipeline, they are pioneering a new kind of investment platform that rewards intelligence, not credentials. The firm thrives at the intersection of finance, AI, and decentralization, with a culture rooted in radical experimentation, long-term thinking, and intellectual rigor. If you're passionate about building elegant systems with outsized impact, you'll find purpose here.

Position Overview

As a Senior Engineer at this hedge fund, you'll play a central role in building, maintaining, and scaling the technology that drives the entire operation. This includes everything from trade execution systems to financial data pipelines. You will work in close collaboration with the research, finance, and data engineering teams to ensure that all trading activity is precise, reliable, and seamlessly integrated across their infrastructure.

In this role, you'll take technical ownership of mission-critical projects, helping to set the direction of the engineering strategy. You'll contribute not just through code, but by influencing architecture, improving engineering practices, and mentoring others. You'll translate strategic business goals into scalable systems and lead initiatives that push the organization forward.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of core trading infrastructure, ensuring it is resilient to real-world complexities like market holidays, corporate actions, regulatory changes, and operational exceptions.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations to develop robust back-office systems for fund accounting, reconciliation, and compliance. Evaluate build-versus-buy options and guide the integration of third-party solutions when appropriate.
  • Manage and extend the financial data platform, building scalable, fault-tolerant data and API integrations with external vendors, custodians, and brokers. Serve as the technical lead for vendor relationships, troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Define and implement performance metrics across the fund, providing real-time visibility into key business functions. Use these insights to guide system improvements, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.
  • Elevate the engineering culture, contributing to technical design discussions, documentation, code reviews, and cross-functional collaboration. Help build and grow the team by setting a high standard of engineering excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience developing trading systems - experience across front-, middle-, or back-office domains is all valuable.
  • Deep expertise in object oriented programming (Python or C++ preferred).
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to design and debug complex distributed systems under pressure.
  • Exceptional written communication skills - you value clarity in specs, documentation, and team discussions.
  • A mindset of extreme ownership - you're proactive, accountable, and always pushing to make things better.
  • A genuine interest in finance, machine learning, and/or decentralized systems and technology.
