A leading national insurance organization is seeking a Program Large Account Underwriting Supervisor to support the management and growth of a specialized commercial lines program. This role is ideal for a seasoned underwriter with leadership experience and a passion for mentoring teams, driving profitability, and delivering exceptional service to agency partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily underwriting operations for a property & casualty book of business within delegated authority.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of senior underwriters, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to manage profitability, pricing strategies, and risk selection.
  • Review and approve complex or exception cases, providing guidance on coverage and pricing.
  • Monitor underwriting performance, conduct audits, and implement process improvements.
  • Support agency relationships through strategic planning, market insights, and participation in client meetings and industry events.
  • Contribute to the development of underwriting guidelines, training programs, and performance plans.
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding new underwriting talent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or related field preferred; industry designations (e.g., CPCU, RPLU) a plus.
  • 7-10+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, with a focus on specialty or program business.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, pricing strategies, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with underwriting systems and tools.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a property & casualty license within 3 months of hire.
