We are currently partnered with one of the fastest growing private equity shops based in Washington, DC as they look to add a Private Equity Associate to their team this year. Founded a few years back, the team already has just shy of $1 Billion in assets under management. with a specific focus on energy & infrastructure, the team is looking to continue being incredibly active for the next several years.

Additionally, this opportunity gives the Private Equity Associate the unique opportunity to work across the full spectrum of the deal process and have true autonomy in their day to day. That said, the senior leadership is still hands on, which provides a unique blend of training and mentor-ship.

Private Equity Associate Responsibilities:

  • Deal Sourcing and Execution: Identify, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities in the energy & infrastructure sector, including conducting due diligence, financial modeling, and valuation analysis.
  • Transaction Management: Assist in managing all aspects of M&A transactions, from initial contact through closing, including coordinating with legal, financial, and operational teams.
  • Market Research: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential investment targets within the energy industry.
  • Portfolio Management: Support the management of portfolio companies, including performance monitoring, strategic planning, and value creation initiatives.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare detailed financial analyses, including LBO models, DCF analyses, and other valuation techniques to support investment decisions.
  • Presentation Preparation: Develop and present investment memos, pitch books, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, advisors, and potential investment targets.

Private Equity Associate Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in Investment Banking, with a focus on M&A transactions (energy, natural resources, industrials, or infrastructure experienced preferred)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the sustainability sector, including key trends, regulatory environment, and competitive dynamics.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work products.
  • Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
