Controller
About the Role
My client, a leading insurance organization, is seeking a highly experienced Controller to oversee accounting and reporting operations for their Property & Casualty (P&C) division. This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing a team, ensuring compliance with GAAP, STAT, and SEC reporting standards, and driving excellence in financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 3-4 direct reports and oversee a broader team of 15-16 professionals.
- Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including GAAP, STAT, and SEC compliance.
- Prepare and review regulatory filings (10-K, 10-Q) and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
- Manage reinsurance accounting and reporting, including Schedules F, P, and Y.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the accounting team.
- Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10-15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
- Industry: Strong background in insurance, with in-depth reinsurance experience.
- Technical Expertise:
- GAAP, STAT, SEC reporting
- Yellow Book knowledge
- CPA preferred
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a complex environment.
- Other: Must be able to work on-site in Irving, TX; relocation assistance available.
