Actuarial Valuation Lead - Life Insurance

An established life insurance organization is seeking a seasoned actuary to lead valuation model development and support strategic actuarial initiatives. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about improving actuarial systems, processes, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Valuation Model Development & Platform Enhancements:
    Lead the design, development, and testing of actuarial valuation models, ensuring alignment with business priorities. Drive enhancements to the actuarial data platform (ADP), contributing to its scalability, automation, and long-term sustainability.

  • Operational & Business Support:
    Maintain and improve valuation modeling processes with a focus on simplification and efficiency. Provide production support to the valuation team, assist with regulatory reporting, and respond to audit inquiries.

  • Change Management & Innovation:
    Oversee the full lifecycle of actuarial change initiatives, from planning through implementation. Integrate new technologies and methodologies to optimize actuarial operations.

  • Governance & Compliance:
    Manage model deployment and ensure adherence to governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.

  • Strategic Projects:
    Lead or contribute to enterprise-wide actuarial initiatives, including regulatory and business-driven projects.

  • Talent Development:
    Mentor actuarial staff, foster professional growth, and deliver targeted training sessions-particularly in modeling tools such as PolySystems.

Qualifications:

  • FSA designation with 7+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry
  • Strong background in valuation, modeling, or financial reporting
  • Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., PolySystems, MG-ALFA, GGY-AXIS)
  • Experience with data tools such as SQL, DataBricks, or Microsoft Access
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and innovation

Work Environment:
Hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week (currently Tuesday through Thursday).
