Location: Greater Philadelphia | Full-Time | Exempt
My client is seeking a seasoned underwriting professional to lead and manage a national portfolio of high-value commercial accounts. This role oversees a book of business totaling approximately $25M in premium, with a focus on large accounts exceeding $500K. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in property and casualty underwriting, particularly for complex risks and high exposure schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead underwriting strategy for large and technically complex accounts.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to retain and grow business under favorable terms.
- Serve as a technical resource for underwriting staff, providing guidance and training.
- Evaluate submissions, assess exposures, and make pricing and coverage decisions within elevated authority levels.
- Coordinate with specialty underwriting units on unique risks (e.g., marine, cyber, captive solutions).
- Support sales and attend industry events as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial P&C underwriting, with a focus on large accounts.
- Advanced understanding of risk assessment, loss data analysis, and coverage structures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and tools (Excel, Access, ISO platforms).
- Insurance designations such as AU or CPCU preferred.
- Must hold a current P&C license for Pennsylvania.
