Senior Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager with deep expertise in the banking and financial services industry. This role is responsible for overseeing the bank's accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of banking regulations, financial instruments, and internal controls.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance

    • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDIC, OCC, FRB).
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations and internal policies.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory examiners during audits and examinations.
  • Accounting Operations

    • Manage the general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
    • Supervise daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
    • Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Strategic Financial Management

    • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with FP&A.
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership for decision-making.
    • Analyze the financial impact of new banking products, services, and regulatory changes.
  • Team Leadership

    • Lead and mentor a team of accountants and finance professionals.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development.
  • Systems & Process Improvement

    • Drive automation and efficiency in accounting processes and systems.
    • Collaborate with IT and operations to implement financial systems upgrades and integrations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, banking regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with core banking systems and financial software (e.g., FIS, Fiserv, Oracle, SAP).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Basel III, CECL, SOX compliance, and other banking-specific frameworks.
  • Experience in managing regulatory filings such as Call Reports (FFIEC 041/031).
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
