Role Overview

This Claims Oversight position is a strategic and hands-on role, responsible for managing the claims lifecycle across a high-volume construction book. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, third-party administrators (TPAs), and defense counsel, ensuring that claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with program standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and analyze all claims activity within the construction program, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Direct TPAs to ensure adherence to claims handling best practices and program protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Claims to monitor performance and outcomes across the portfolio.
  • Manage relationships with defense counsel, coordinating litigation strategy and reserving practices.
  • Monitor and guide TPA activity to ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide oversight and support on complex claims tasks, including coverage analysis and settlement strategy.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and reporting within the claims system to support transparency and audit readiness.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role requires a claims professional with deep expertise in construction-related claims and a strong command of New York Labor Law, particularly Sections 240 and 241.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience handling construction claims, preferably within a program or carrier environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in New York Labor Law, including 240/241 litigation and defense strategy.
  • Experience managing TPAs and coordinating with defense panels.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex liability scenarios.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
