Asset Allocation Specialist (Cross-Asset) Opportunity at Premier Insurance Company (NYC/Remote)

Insurance Asset Allocation Vice President Opportunity

Premier Investment Team | NYC / Hybrid‑Remote

A high‑performing investment platform is seeking an experienced Insurance Asset Allocation professional to join its team at the Vice President level. This role offers meaningful decision‑making responsibility, direct partnership with a highly regarded CIO, and exposure to a broad, flexible cross‑asset mandate within a growing organization.

This is a hands‑on investment role for a seasoned insurance asset allocator who combines strong market judgment with the ability to translate insights into clear, actionable portfolio decisions.

The Role

The Vice President will play a central role in shaping strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions across insurance portfolios, working at the intersection of markets, liabilities, capital considerations, and governance. The position requires intellectual rigor, strong communication skills, and the confidence to operate in a committee‑driven institutional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Tactical Asset Allocation

  • Design and evolve strategic asset allocations across existing insurance portfolios, integrating portfolio positioning, cross‑asset relative value assessments, Treasury cash‑flow projections, capital planning inputs, actuarial liability profiles, and long‑term capital market assumptions.
  • Contribute to tactical allocation decisions and portfolio re‑positioning in response to changing market conditions and valuation dynamics.

Investment Idea Development & Governance

  • Generate differentiated investment ideas across public and private markets and translate them into clear, well‑structured, and defensible proposals.
  • Present recommendations to group‑level and local investment committees, partnering closely with senior stakeholders to drive informed decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Accounting, Legal, Regulatory, Actuarial, Capital Management, Treasury, and other internal teams to design and implement new investment strategies consistent with insurance, capital, and regulatory frameworks.

External Manager Selection & Oversight

  • Lead external manager selection, onboarding, and ongoing performance oversight across core fixed income and specialized asset classes, including public and private equity, real estate, bank loans, high yield, and emerging market debt.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective managers and evaluate co‑investment opportunities where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

  • 5-9 years of experience within an insurance company asset management or closely aligned institutional environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and/or tactical asset allocation, with strong understanding of capital markets and portfolio construction.
  • Broad cross‑asset exposure, with depth in fixed income and familiarity with specialized or alternative asset classes.
  • Experience working with investment committees and partnering with portfolio managers or external managers on benchmarking, portfolio design, and risk/return analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (finance, economics, statistics, or another quantitative discipline).

Why This Role

  • High visibility and direct access to senior investment leadership.
  • Genuine opportunity to influence portfolio positioning and strategic direction.
  • Exposure to a broad, flexible investment mandate spanning public and private markets.
  • Collaborative, intellectually rigorous environment with institutional scale and complexity.
  • Hybrid work model based in New York City.
