Accounting Manager - Energy
Role Overview
As a key member of the accounting team, you will:
- Lead Core Accounting Operations: Oversee daily accounting functions including General Ledger activities, cash management, accounts receivable/payable, storage and derivatives accounting, and detailed reconciliations-particularly of clearing accounts and trade data across internal and external systems.
- Reconcile and Analyze Trade Data: Examine complex trade transactions and ensure alignment between internal trade systems and external statements. Partner with leadership to enhance internal controls and mitigate financial risks with a strategic, enterprise-wide approach.
- Own Month-End Close: Manage the month-end close process for multiple legal entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Deliver Financial Reporting: Prepare GAAP/IFRS-compliant financial statements and provide insightful analysis to support executive decision-making.
- Adapt and Innovate: Embrace challenges in a fast-paced environment, continuously learning and adopting new tools, technologies, and workflows.
- Support Audit Processes: Lead key components of annual financial audits and collaborate effectively with team members to achieve shared goals.
- Drive Innovation: Contribute to the development of forward-thinking solutions, with a particular interest in leveraging AI to enhance accounting processes.
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor financial covenant compliance and proactively alert leadership to potential issues, offering actionable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in public or corporate accounting
- Background in physical gas and/or power trading environments REQUIRED
- Familiarity with Endur ETRM and Oracle systems preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
