VP - M&A Advisory

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure, and execute cross‑border M&A transactions, including inbound investments and outbound acquisitions, SOEs, private enterprises, and sponsor‑backed platforms across multiple sectors.
  • Take a leading role in business development and origination efforts by developing actionable transaction ideas, preparing pitch materials, maintaining active dialogue with senior management teams, shareholders and financial sponsors, and converting client relationships into executable mandates.
  • Act as a key execution lead throughout the full transaction lifecycle, including target and buyer screening, valuation analysis, financial modelling, due diligence coordination, transaction structuring, negotiation support, and closing execution.
  • Manage cross‑border transaction processes involving multiple jurisdictions, working closely with internal product and sector teams as well as external legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory advisors.
  • Review and own core transaction deliverables such as information memoranda, management presentations, valuation materials, committee papers, and transaction documentation to ensure high technical and presentation standards.
  • Mentor and oversee junior team members, providing guidance on execution workstreams, financial analysis, and professional development while ensuring timely and accurate delivery under tight deadlines.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory, market, and geopolitical developments affecting China‑related M&A and apply commercial judgement to client advice and transaction structuring.

Requirements

  • Experience in M&A advisory or investment banking, with a clear focus on cross‑border M&A transactions involving Greater China.
  • Proven track record in originating and executing completed M&A transactions, with hands‑on experience across acquisitions, disposals, mergers, minority investments, and joint ventures.
  • Strong familiarity with cross‑border execution, including regulatory considerations, transaction structuring, and coordination across jurisdictions.
  • Ability to independently manage transaction execution while supervising junior bankers and maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and risk awareness.
  • Advanced financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills, with the ability to review, challenge, and refine complex analyses and clearly articulate conclusions to clients.
  • Strong client‑facing and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging senior executives, shareholders, and financial sponsors in a professional and credible manner.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English is mandatory; Cantonese is an advantage.
