VP, Leveraged Finance Credit Risk

A leading global investment bank is seeking a Vice President to join its Leveraged and Structured Credit Risk team in New York. This role will provide independent credit oversight across a diverse portfolio of private credit, lender finance, asset-backed lending, trade finance, and leveraged finance transactions. The position sits within the second line of defense and is responsible for evaluating complex credit exposures, assigning internal ratings, approving transactions, and partnering closely with the front office teams on deal structuring and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Lead quantitative and qualitative credit analysis across private credit, lender finance, asset-backed lending, trade finance, leveraged loans, and other structured credit transactions
- Assigned internal credit ratings, prepare credit memorandums, evaluate key risks and mitigants, and support transaction approvals through senior credit committees
- Review complex financing structures, negotiate credit protections and legal terms, conduct borrower due diligence, and partner directly with front office deal teams on transaction structuring and portfolio management
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Credit Risk, Private Credit, Leveraged Finance, Structured Credit, Asset-Based Lending, Lender Finance, or Trade Finance Experience
- Strong credit underwriting and analytical skills. including financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, collateral evaluation, portfolio monitoring, and credit risk identification
- Experience reviewing complex legal documentation, evaluating bespoke financing structures, presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders, and partnering with front office teams throughout the deal life cycle
