Job Title: Database Engineer/ Application Developer for a Leading Bank in Selby Jennings, London

As a Database Engineer/Application Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing complex databases. Your duties will also include identifying inefficiencies within current systems and providing solutions to optimize their performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing user-friendly applications with intuitive interfaces. This role will require you to work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, to ensure the smooth functioning of the bank's systems.
To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) preferably related to Computer Science / Information Technology. You should have experience working on several projects from start-to-finish using programming languages such as Java or Python. In addition to this, you should have expertise in the following areas:
1. SQL Server Management Studio - A strong understanding of managing servers effectively will be needed to support the bank's systems.
2. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts - An important skill required while designing efficient algorithms that can handle large data sets efficiently.
3. Data Modelling - Experience creating logical models which map out processes/data flows before physical implementations take place would be useful too!
4. Agile methodology - The ability to operate under agile development practices when collaborating across different departments globally.
