Job Title: Sugar Trader

Reports To: Business Unit Head / Trading Manager
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sugar Trader to manage the physical trading of sugar across international markets. The successful candidate will oversee a commercial portfolio, build supplier and customer relationships, manage P&L, and drive growth across key global regions.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Commercial Execution
- Trade a defined portfolio of sugar in global markets with a focus on profitability and business expansion.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing movements, and competitive developments to make informed trading decisions.
- Source sugar and related commodities from key origins and sell into Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and other target regions.
Manage the full trade cycle: procurement, allocation, logistics coordination, documentation, and risk management.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers, mills, refiners, traders, and industrial buyers worldwide.
- Negotiate contracts covering price, quality, specification, shipping terms, and payment structures.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Identify new business opportunities, evaluate supply/demand factors, and prepare regular market insights.
- Contribute to medium‑ and long‑term strategic planning with the commercial team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or related field (Master's degree is a plus).
- 8-10 years of proven experience trading sugar or related agri‑commodities with a strong P&L track record.
- Strong understanding of sugar supply chains, origins, destination markets, and global trading flows.
- Established network of suppliers and buyers in sugar or broader edible‑commodities sectors.

- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, results‑oriented approach.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build long‑term commercial relationships.
