Title: Senior Project Accountant

Location: Brandywine, MD

Company Summary

A growing construction and engineering organization is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support the financial management of large-scale construction projects. This role is responsible for coordinating all phases of project accounting, including job costing, contract billing, budget monitoring, financial reporting, and risk management. The Senior Project Accountant will partner closely with Project Managers and operational teams to ensure accurate financial performance tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

Senior Project Accountant Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly project billings in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Monitor project budgets, commitments, and costs to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Process subcontractor and vendor invoices and assist with owner billings.
  • Partner with Project Managers and project teams to monitor overall project financial performance.
  • Participate in project progress meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, forecasts, and cost analyses, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed.
  • Support, mentor, and provide guidance to junior Project Accounting team members.

Senior Project Accountant Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of Project Accounting experience preferred.
  • Construction, engineering, contracting, or project-based industry experience preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge with a solid understanding of project accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
