An established independent consulting firm specializing in group health, compliance, actuarial, and benefits consulting is seeking a senior-level Health & Benefits Consultant to join its growing multiemployer practice. This individual will play a key leadership role overseeing client relationships, technical consulting, business development, and operational strategy within the health consulting division.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior relationship manager for health fund clients and trustee boards
- Lead strategic initiatives, department growth, and succession planning efforts
- Manage project workflows and ensure timely, accurate client deliverables
- Act as the senior technical resource for health plan consulting matters
- Mentor and develop consulting staff
- Drive business development initiatives and support practice growth
- Improve internal processes, workflows, and operational efficiency
- Attend client meetings, trustee meetings, and industry events
Representative Projects
- Advise clients on healthcare legislation and regulatory changes
- Conduct carrier and vendor market checks and RFPs
- Review and manage relationships with TPAs, PBMs, and other benefit partners
- Design and price benefit plan changes
- Develop and update SPDs, SBCs, and ACA-related notices
- Perform financial forecasting and trend analysis
- Calculate COBRA rates, IBNR reserves, PCORI fees, and retiree contributions
- Present recommendations to boards and client leadership
Qualifications
- 12+ years of group health consulting experience
- Experience managing complex client relationships
- Strong knowledge of health and welfare benefit plans
- Leadership experience managing teams and projects
- Active health insurance license preferred
- Multiemployer/Taft-Hartley experience preferred
