Senior Financial Controller
For an international banking institution based in Amsterdam, we are looking for a highly skilled Senior Financial Controller to join their Finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong accounting foundation, a solid background in financial services, and the ability to operate in a complex, cross‑border environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in line with IFRS and internal accounting principles.
- Review, analyze, and validate financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L performance.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements specific to the banking environment.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial controls, reporting processes, and data quality.
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Operations to provide financial insights and support strategic decision‑making.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and liquidity planning cycles.
- Support ad‑hoc financial analysis, projects, and system/process enhancements.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting or audit.
- Strong accounting background, with excellent knowledge of core accounting principles (e.g., IFRS).
- Financial services industry experience is required - banking experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, RA, CPA) are a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working within an international, multicultural environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and explain complex financial information.
- Proficient in financial systems and advanced Excel skills.
