Senior/AVP Casualty Underwriter - Home Office (General Liability)

A leading E&S carrier is seeking an experienced E&S casaulty to join its team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with experience in casualty underwriting and a passion for mentoring, product development, and strategic portfolio management.
About the Role
As a Senior Underwriter - Casualty, you will serve as a technical authority on General Liability matters, supporting underwriting teams across the country. You'll play a key role in shaping underwriting guidelines, developing new products, and driving profitability through thoughtful analysis and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a referral authority for Associate, Mid-Level, and Senior Underwriters.
- Lead and support underwriting audits and technical reviews.
- Draft and refine policy language in coordination with Claims and Legal teams.
- Participate in IT and Claims Committee meetings to align underwriting with operational goals.
- Mentor and train underwriting staff nationally.
- Contribute to data calls and research projects related to casualty trends.
- Monitor market developments in coverage, appetite, and form usage.
- Recommend changes to risk appetite and underwriting standards.
- Analyze portfolio performance and recommend strategic adjustments.
- Author white papers, case studies, and support underwriting initiatives.
- Lead development of underwriting guidelines, best practices, and product forms.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and other departments.
- Support special projects as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5 years as casualty underwriter
- Strong technical knowledge across Casualty lines.
- Proven ability to mentor and train underwriting staff.
- Strong organizational, research, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
- Innovative mindset and technical proficiency.
