Senior Data Engineer
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for acquiring, transforming, and managing datasets used across derivatives, multi‑asset strategies, and data‑driven research. You will help enhance data pipelines, strengthen quality checks, and build scalable processes that support market analysis and trading workflows. A solid understanding of financial data conventions-particularly for time‑series, derivatives, and vendor‑supplied feeds-is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, refine, and maintain data pipelines supporting trading, research, and analytics
- Manage core datasets used across derivatives and market‑driven strategies
- Implement automated quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring tools
- Integrate new data from internal platforms and external market data providers
- Create structured annotations and metadata to support AI‑oriented research efforts
- Partner with quantitative researchers and trading teams on data needs for model development
- Participate in architectural discussions to ensure systems are scalable and resilient
- Deliver production‑ready code for ingestion, transformation, and archival workflows
- Document data structures, lineage, quality standards, and process logic
- Diagnose and resolve data issues that may impact trading or research operations
- Build repeatable workflows with automated exception handling and alerting
- Communicate risks or inconsistencies related to data accuracy, timeliness, or completeness
- Contribute to long‑term improvements that enhance automation and platform robustness
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience building data pipelines, including ingestion and transformation workflows
- Must have experience in trading, derivatives, financial markets, or a closely related domain
- Proficiency with Python and associated data processing libraries
- Strong understanding of options, futures, or related derivative market data
- Familiarity with financial data vendors and market data product offerings
- Experience developing systematic approaches to data quality and validation
- Understanding of observability and monitoring tools for data operations
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially under time‑sensitive conditions
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment supporting trading teams
- Clear communication skills and strong ownership mentality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with workflows supporting trading systems or quantitative research
- Exposure to streaming or event‑driven data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming)
- Experience improving automation or modernizing data engineering processes
- Familiarity with metadata management or data lineage tooling
- Strong documentation and organizational habits
- Experience collaborating with distributed or global teams
