Senior AML Monitoring Officer
We are currently partnering with a leading private bank with a search of a new Compliance Officer for their AML/Monitoring division. This role is essential in ensuring the institution remains compliant with all applicable regulations, involving responsibilities such as conducting oversight activities, performing compliance reviews, and advising internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out client name screening and handle any alerts that arise.
- Review payment transactions (e.g., SWIFT messages) for potential compliance issues.
- Oversee and assess client transaction activity, including pre-transaction approvals and dealings with high-risk regions.
- Respond to alerts generated by the internal fraud detection system.
- Provide operational and project support to the Compliance leadership and team members.
- Help resolve audit findings and implement corrective actions.
- Execute routine and ad hoc compliance checks as outlined in the monitoring plan.
- Support compliance efforts related to MiFID, particularly in managing conflicts of interest and monitoring incentives.
- Offer compliance-related advice to client relationship managers.
- Prepare and submit suspicious activity or transaction reports to the relevant financial intelligence unit when necessary.
- Investigate and escalate compliance concerns to reduce legal, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Contribute to regulatory reviews, including risk and gap assessments.
- Participate in broader compliance initiatives at the group level.
- Take part in training efforts to ensure staff are informed about compliance policies and regulatory updates.
Qualifications:
- University degree in law, finance, accounting, or business administration.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in the banking sector, ideally in compliance, legal, or audit roles.
- In-depth understanding of compliance areas such as AML/CFT, KYC, MiFID, and fraud prevention.
- Knowledge of account setup procedures, corporate documentation, and organizational structures.
- Proficiency in both English & French
