Risk Management Associate or Sr. Associate
Position Overview
A leading real estate firm is seeking a Risk Management Associate or Senior Associate to support the development and oversight of a leading real estate investment firm's risk management and insurance programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Risk Management & Insurance, this individual will join a team responsible for assessing, mitigating, and managing risk across a diverse real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on professional with a strong understanding of insurance, claims management, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and execution of enterprise-wide risk management initiatives across multiple business lines.
- Manage and maintain knowledge of claims processes across various insurance coverages, including property, general liability, professional liability, and builder's risk.
- Receive and process claim notices, liens, lawsuits, and other claim-related documentation.
- Partner with internal and external legal counsel to develop effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies.
- Serve as a liaison between insurance carriers, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders throughout the claims and litigation process.
- Document and communicate claim activity accurately and in a timely manner to support effective claim resolution and litigation outcomes.
- Oversee claim reporting, investigations, claim management, and settlement discussions.
- Maintain claims data and reporting metrics, providing regular updates and analysis to leadership.
- Collaborate with internal business units and external partners on insurance and risk-related matters.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance risk management operations.
- Support day-to-day insurance requests and inquiries.
- Assist with data collection and analysis for annual insurance policy renewals.
- Participate in special projects and additional risk management activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in claims management, insurance, or risk management.
- Legal background preferred, with a strong understanding of the litigation process and the ability to provide informed recommendations on claim and litigation strategy.
- Highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
