Job Title: Senior Underwriter

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
Position Overview:
My client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Underwriter to join their growing team of program specialists. This role is responsible for evaluating, underwriting, and managing complex risks within specialized insurance programs. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in underwriting, a strategic mindset, and a collaborative approach to working with brokers, agents, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with program guidelines and risk appetite.
- Analyze risk characteristics, pricing adequacy, and coverage terms to ensure profitability and compliance.
- Collaborate with program managers, actuaries, and claims teams to refine underwriting strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners to drive growth and retention.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior underwriters and underwriting assistants.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform underwriting decisions.
- Participate in audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of commercial underwriting experience, preferably in program business or specialty lines.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in underwriting platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are a plus.
