Overview
We are seeking a senior, hands‑on Microsoft 365 & SharePoint Administrator to take full ownership of a hybrid collaboration environment, with a critical focus on SharePoint Server (on‑prem) architecture and build capability.
This role requires a true platform owner who can operate across modern Microsoft 365 services while also designing, building, and maintaining SharePoint on‑prem infrastructure from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint On‑Premises (Core Requirement)

  • Design, build, and deploy SharePoint Server environments from scratch (2013 / 2016 / 2019)
  • Architect and configure SharePoint farm topology, including:
  • Web front ends
  • Application servers
  • Search services and service applications
  • Implement and manage SQL Server back‑end architecture for SharePoint environments
  • Configure and maintain:
  • User Profile Service (UPA)
  • Managed Metadata
  • Search and indexing
  • Manage patching, upgrades, capacity planning, and performance optimisation
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across SharePoint infrastructure, IIS, and Windows Server
  • Support or design hybrid SharePoint environments (on‑prem + SharePoint Online)


Microsoft 365 Platform Ownership

  • Administer and optimise:
  • Exchange Online
  • SharePoint Online
  • OneDrive
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Manage Entra ID (Azure AD), including:
  • Conditional Access
  • MFA
  • RBAC and identity lifecycle
  • Maintain tenant-level configuration, governance, and security controls


Security, Governance & Compliance

Implement and manage:

  • Microsoft Purview (DLP, retention, eDiscovery)
  • Defender for Microsoft 365
  • Secure messaging and access policies
  • Ensure compliance across collaboration and content platforms


Automation & Operations

  • Use PowerShell (and ideally Graph API) to:
  • Automate administrative processes
  • Improve platform reliability
  • Reduce manual operational overhead
  • Act as Tier 2/3 escalation point for complex platform issues
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation


Projects & Initiatives

Lead or support:

  • SharePoint on‑prem builds, upgrades, and migrations
  • On‑prem → cloud or hybrid modernisation initiatives
  • Collaboration platform optimisation and adoption

Required Experience

  • Proven experience building SharePoint on‑prem environments from scratch (non‑negotiable)
  • Strong experience across SharePoint Server (2013/2016/2019) infrastructure and administration
  • Hands‑on Microsoft 365 administration across Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive
  • Experience with Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC
  • Experience working in hybrid environments (on‑prem + cloud)

Strong understanding of:

  • Windows Server
  • IIS
  • SQL Server (for SharePoint back‑end
  • PowerShell scripting for automation and operational efficiency


Preferred Experience

  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments (financial services, government, healthcare)
  • Experience designing or supporting hybrid SharePoint architectures
  • Exposure to migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, DocAve)
  • Experience implementing governance and information architecture strategies
