Position: Analst - VP

Firm Overview:

A nationally recognized investment banking and advisory firm is seeking professionals at the Analyst through Vice President levels to join its growing Capital Markets practice in Chicago. The firm provides strategic capital raising solutions for middle-market companies, with expertise spanning both special situations (e.g., distressed, turnaround, or time-sensitive financings) and regular-way transactions (e.g., growth equity, debt placements, and refinancings).

Position Summary:

The Capital Markets team works directly with companies, investors, and financial sponsors to execute a broad range of financing transactions. Professionals in this group advise on structuring and raising capital across the capital stack, including debt, equity, and hybrid solutions. The team supports both complex, event-driven financings and traditional market-driven transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support or lead the execution of capital raising mandates, including special situations (e.g., rescue financings, DIP, distressed debt) and regular-way financings (e.g., growth capital, refinancings, recapitalizations)

  • Build and review financial models, conduct credit and capital structure analysis, and prepare investor materials

  • Engage with lenders, credit funds, equity investors, and other capital providers to support deal execution

  • Assist in preparing marketing documents, transaction memos, and client presentations

  • Support senior bankers in deal origination and client relationship management

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes

Qualifications:

  • 2-7 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, leveraged finance, or restructuring

  • Strong understanding of debt and equity products, capital structures, and credit fundamentals

  • Prior exposure to distressed or special situations financings is highly valued but not required

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing capabilities

  • Ability to thrive in a lean, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment
